Reviews and Customer Trust
Use reviews, moderation, and verified-purchase handling to strengthen trust without creating moderation or compliance confusion.
Review Workflow
Use the Reviews page to triage pending reviews, respond where appropriate, and keep the storefront review surface healthy.
What to watch regularly:
- pending moderation queue
- verified-purchase indicators
- image/media attachments
- owner responses on high-signal reviews
Trust Guidelines
Reviews are part of the storefront trust layer. The goal is not to remove negative sentiment; it is to remove abusive or invalid content while keeping legitimate customer feedback visible.
Use moderation to:
Do not use moderation to:
- remove policy-violating content
- correct clearly invalid submissions
- respond to customer concerns with context
- hide legitimate low ratings
- remove honest customer frustration
- pressure customers to change a review just because it hurts conversion
Review Collection Rules
When asking for reviews:
If you offer a discount, sample, or similar perk related to a review request, treat disclosure as mandatory.
- invite a broad set of customers, not just obviously happy ones
- keep the ask neutral instead of implying that positive reviews are preferred
- disclose any incentive tied to the review
- make sure support follow-up and review collection stay separate enough that customers do not feel coerced
Operational Checks
Before using review collection heavily:
- test one disclosed/incentivized review end to end
- confirm the moderation queue shows enough context to review it fairly
- make sure staff understand that owner responses are usually better than takedowns for honest complaints
